World Bank Extends Climate Action Plan, Shifts Focus from Targets to Impact
The World Bank extends its Climate Change Action Plan beyond June 2026, moving from input-based targets to a development-outcomes and impact orientation.

The World Bank has announced that its Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) will remain in effect beyond June 2026 while it evaluates options for its future evolution, ensuring continuity in its climate and development agenda.
The Bank will retire its previous 35% and 45% climate co-benefits targets, shifting from input-based targets to a stronger focus on development outcomes and project impact. It will continue reporting climate co-benefits at both project and portfolio levels and contribute to joint multilateral development bank (MDB) climate reporting.
The institution also plans to strengthen its engagement on adaptation, nature, and pollution, integrating these priorities more effectively across its operations. The update reflects the World Bank's commitment to delivering client-driven, resilient development while refining its climate strategy to maximise development impact.
