ALMM List-II takes effect and MNRE declines a blanket extension

ALMM List-II now applies to solar cells, not just modules. MNRE has declined a general extension and allowed only documented, case-by-case relief, making applicability and exemption an immediate question for projects mid-execution.

June 2026

From 1 June 2026, solar projects in scope must use cells from the domestic Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) - List-II, not just modules. MNRE's Office Memorandum of 25 May 2026 refused industry requests for a general extension, and allowed only documented, case-by-case relief - making ALMM applicability and exemption claims an immediate question for projects mid-execution. List-III (ingots and wafers) follows from June 2028.
