Obligated entities under the CCTS face their first compliance deadline on 31 July 2026 for FY2025-26, with submissions through the Indian Carbon Market portal. It is the first time Indian industry closes a legally binding carbon compliance cycle and the first test of the scheme's MRV, verification and environmental-compensation machinery. The data submitted will set the ball rolling for trading of carbon credits in the Indian carbon market, and non-compliance will result in a 2x purchase or surrender penalty.
